Title: Establishes Various Red Flag Gun Purchase Provisions
Vote to pass a bill that establishes various red flag gun purchase provisions and authorizes family members or law enforcement officers to petition the court to seize guns or stop the purchase of a gun from a person suspected of posing a significant danger to themselves or others in the state of Maine.
Defines terms related to crisis intervention in Maine (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the district court has jurisdiction of all proceedings highlighted in this act (Sec. 1).
Specifies that judicial proceedings must occur in the judicial division where the defendant resides (Sec. 1).
Specifies that a family member, a law enforcement agency, or a law enforcement officer may file a petition to request the court issue a crisis intervention order (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the court to prohibit a person under a crisis intervention order from receiving, buying, or possessing a firearm (Sec. 1).
