Title: Amends State Law to Re-Criminalize Drug Possession
Vote to pass a bill that amends state law to re-criminalize drug possession in the state of Oregon.
Amends state law to re-criminalize drug possession in the state of Oregon including establishing possession of small amounts of heroin and methamphetamine as misdemeanor offenses with a prison senstence of up to 6 months (Sec. 2-44).
Authorizes state police to at their own discretion confiscate aforementioned drugs in public settings and state parks and offer drug treatment as an alternative to criminal penalties (Sec. 47-70).
Requires easier prosecution against individuals who sell drugs, and increases access to addiction medication and the ability to keep housing without facing discrimination for use of said medication (Sec. 72-87).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 91).
