Title: Requires Schools Establish a Policy to Prohibit Cell Phone Use During Class
Vote to pass a bill that requires school districts and charter schools to create a policy prohibiting cellphones during instructional time.
Authorizes each school corporation and charter school to adopt a wireless communication device policy that (Sec. 1):
Prohibits students from using wireless communication devices during instructional time;
Authorizes a teacher to allow students to use wireless communication decease for educational purposes; or
Permits a student to use a wireless communication divide in the case of an emergency.
Establishes that students are excused from this prohibition if the use of the wireless communication device for the student is used to help promote an individual education program (Sec. 1).
Requires each school corporation and charter school to publish on their website their policies for wireless communication (Sec. 1).
