Vote to pass a bill that establishes standards for library materials in that state of Idaho.

Highlights:

• Establishes state standards for library materials and requires public school libraries create a book review and removal committee for school curriculum by January 1, 2025 (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the library materials review committee shall be made up of no less than 3 individuals with one member being a parent and may also include members of the library’s governing board (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes patrons to sue the library if they believe violations have occurred which allegedly exposed their children to harmful materials (Sec. 1).

• Defines “harmful materials” as the previously established version which defines sexual conduct to include homosexuality under state law (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect July 1, 2024 (Sec. 2).
