Title: Establishes Illegal Immigration as a State Crime
Vote to pass a bill that establishes illegal immigration as a state crime in the state of Iowa.
Establishes illegal immigration as a state crime in the state of Iowa under the following circumstances, including (Sec. 2-11):
If the individual has been denied admission to or has been excluded, deported, or removed from the United States; or
If the individual was previously deported and if the person left the U.S. while under a deportation or removal order and returned.
Increases charges to a Class D felony if a person was removed after a misdemeanor conviction involving drugs or crimes against a person or if the person was subject to alien terrorist removal procedures (Sec. 2-11).
Specifies a Class C felony shall aply if the individual was removed after a felony conviction (Sec. 2-11).
Authorizes judges to issue an order that removes an individual convicted from the U.S. (Sec. 2-11).
