Title: Requires All Students Complete a Firearm Safety Training Course
Vote to pass a bill that requires all students complete a firearm safety training course in the state of Tennessee.
Authorizes the department of education and the department of safety to determine the age at which students begin receiving instruction on firearm safety (Sec. 1).
Requires the LEA and public charter schools to annually provide students with grade-appropriate instruction on firearm safety, in 2025-2026 school year (Sec. 1).
Specifies what type of instruction will be taught to the students: storage safety, school safety, injury prevention, and avoidance of touching found firearms (Sec. 1).
Requires the instructors to be neutral on gun right political topics (Sec. 1).
Prohibits the departments from approving a curriculum that includes a brand or organization affiliation (Sec. 1).
Establishes that school safety training requirements will be enforcement by state level safety teams (Sec. 2).
Establishes this act to take effect upon becoming law, permitting the public require it (Sec. 3).
