Title: Establishes a Second List of Individuals Prohibited from Buying Guns

Vote to pass a bill that establishes a second list of individuals prohibited from buying guns in the state of New Hampshire.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes residents 18 or older who do not wish to be allowed to purchase a firearm to apply to be listed on the New Hampshire voluntary firearms do not sell list (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires the Department of Safety to establish and maintain the list to prohibit the sale or transfer of firearms by a dealer to any natural person who voluntarily registers to be on the list (Sec. 2).

  • Requires the Department of Safety to only disclose the list to law enforcement agencies (Sec. 4). 

  • Establishes that any person who voluntarily waives their right to purchase a firearm will be guilty of a violation in the case that they attempt to purchase a firearm from a federally licensed dealer (Sec. 5). 

  • Establishes that any person who knowingly gives false information with the intent of enrolling or removing another person from the list shall be guilty of a class B misdemeanor (Sec. 5). 

  • Authorizes the act to go into effect on January 1, 2025 (Sec. 5).
