Title: Establishes Employment Restrictions for Minors

Vote to pass a bill that establishes employment restrictions for minors in the state of Florida.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits minors 15 or younger from working before 7:00 a.m or after 7:00 p.m when school is scheduled the following day (Sec. 1). 

  • Establishes that minors 15 years of age or younger may not work in any gainful occupation for more than 6 consecutive days (Sec. 1). 

  • Prohibits minors 15 years or younger from working more than 15 hours in any one week (Sec. 1). 

  • Establishes that minors 15 years or younger may not work during holidays or summer vacations and may not be permitted to work before 7:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires that minors 15 years or younger not work more than 8 hours in one day or 40 hours in one week (Sec. 1). 

  • Prohibits minors 16 and 17 years of age from working before 6:00 a.m. or after 11:00 p.m. when school is scheduled the following day (Sec. 1). 

  • Establishes that any curfew adopted by a county or municipal ordinance must also include the aforementioned exceptions (Sec. 2). 

  • Establishes the effective date as July 1, 2024 (Sec. 3).
