Title: Prohibits Public Release of Judges Private or Personal Information
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits public release of judges private or personal information in the state of Maryland.
Prohibits government entities from publicly releasing a judges private or personal information in the state of Maryland and remove any private or personal information that is currently readily available in existing publication (Sec. 1, Subtitle 23).
Defines “personal or private information” as for the purposes of this bill the following, including (Sec. 1, Subtitle 23):
Home address;
Mobile or home telephone number;
Personal email address;
Social security number;
Driver’s license number;
Federal tax identification number;
Bank account, credit or debit card number;
License plate number or unique vehicle identifier;
Birth or material record;
Child’s name or school or daycare provider; and
Place of worship.
Exempts information that a judge has previously made public with their consent or other information that is a matter of public concern from the list of prohibited information (Sec. 1, Subtitle 23).
Authorizes certain declaratory and injunctive relief for damages from violations of this bill (Sec. 1, Subtitle 23).
Specifies that individuals found to have published individuals personal or private information that results in either first degree assault, harassment, tresspass, or malicious destruction of property shall be guilty of a misdemanor and upon conviction serve a prison term no longer than 18 months and a fine of $5,000 or both (Sec. 1, Subtitle 23).
Establishes a task force to ensure the safety of judicial facilities in the state of Maryland (Sec. 1, Subtitle 23).
