Vote to pass a bill that authorizes medical cannabis use for adults in the state of South Carolina.

Highlights:

• Authorizes medical cannabis use only via oil, salves, patches, or vaporizer use for adults with specified illnesses in the state of South Carolina (Sec. 4).

• Defines “specified illness” for the purposes of this bill as the following, including, but not limited to (Sec. 4):

• Cancer;

• Multiple sclerosis;

• Glaucoma;

• Sickle cell anemia;

• Autism;

• Some post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis; or

• Terminal illness with a less than one year survival diagnosis.

• Requires doctors meet individuals in person and only prescribe a 2 week supply at one time (Sec. 4).

• Authorizes employers to prohibit employee’s from using the drug at their discretion (Sec. 4).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 13).
