Vote to pass a bill that expands culpability requirements for firearms trafficking offenses and violations of regulatory provisions relating to firearms in the state of New Jersey.
Expands culpability requirements for firearms trafficking offenses and violations of regulatory provisions relating to firearms in the state of New Jersey (Sec. 1).
Specifies that a licensed firearms dealer shall be guilty of a second degree felony crime with a minium prison sentence of 18 months if they sell or transfer a firearm to an individual when they reasonbly should know that they intends to sell, transfer, or assign the firearm to another indivdual who is disqualified from possessing a firearm under state or federal law (Sec. 1).
Defines “reasonably should know” for the purposes of this bill to mean when an indidivual should know a fact when, under the circumstances, an individual of reasonable prudence and competence would ascertain or know the fact (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 2).
