Vote to pass a bill that prohibits professional agencies and administrations from denying convicted felons from obtaining licenses to practice trade work such as plumbing, welding, and similar jobs in the state of South Dakota.
Defines certain terms related to business licenses (Sec. 1).
Specifies that a business administrator or agency may not take adverse action based solely on an applicant's criminal history in the state of South Dakota (Sec. 2).
Specifies that the agency or administration may take action if the crime directly relates to the profession or the occupation by which they are seeking licensure (Sec. 2).
Specifies that an agency cannot take negative action on an applicant because of arrest history based on records that have been expunged, sealed, or pardoned (Sec. 3).
Specifies that applicants still have to list whether they have been convicted of any criminal offenses (Sec. 3).
