Title: Amends Water Provider Regulations for Arizona Municipalities

Vote to pass a bill that amends water provider regulations for Arizona state municipalities.

Highlights:

  • Specifies that a city or town must provide water service through an intergovernmental agreement to another town or city that does not have the same access if the following qualifications are met (Sec. 1): 

    • If the area has a population of less than 750: 

    • The town previously provided residents water;

    • There is no other source of water for those residents;

    • The town is reimbursed for the services provided;

    • Providing the water does not impair the function of businesses and services within the water service area of the town; and

    • The county enters into an agreement with the town that establishes its requirements including water transportation and billing. 

  • Specifies that This only applies to places who are occupied before January 3rd 2023 (Sec. 1). 

  • Specifies that the city shall indemnify the city or town with respect to any actions taken (Sec. 1). 

  • Specifies that the county may help in identifying water from a third party (Sec. 1).
