Title: Authorizes First Responders to Place Individuals Experiencing Homelessness With Severe Mental Illnesses into Treatment
Vote to concur with house amendments and final pass a bill that authorizes first responders to place individuals experiencing homelessness with severe mental illnesses into treatment.
Authorizes first responders to place individuals experiencing homelessness with severe mental illnesses or substance abuse disorder into treatment beginning January 1, 2026 (Sec. 1).
Requires the Department of Health Care Services to collect data on a quarterly basis and report to legislature on the number of individuals placed into treatment and include the type of disability caused due to the severe mental health or substance abuse disorder (Sec. 1).
Requires that the state to reimburse local agencies and departments for certain costs and expenses mandated by the state for the aforementioned treatment programs (Sec. 4).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 7).
