Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that requires doctors and doctors-in-training to get patient approval before giving a prostate, anal, or pelvic exam to unconscious or anesthetized patients.

Highlights:

• Requires doctors and doctors-in-training to get patient approval before giving a prostate, anal, or pelvic exam to unconscious or anesthetized patients with certain exceptions including (Sec. A):

• If the patient or person authorized to make health care decisions for the patient gives approval;

• The exam is necessary for diagnostic or treatment purposes; or

• A court orders the exam for evidence.
