Vote to pass a bill that requires guaranteed admission for applicants ranked in the top 5% of their high school class.

Highlights:

• Requires the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System and technical college district boards establish a guaranteed admission program for applicants ranked in the top 5% of their high school class (Sec. 1).

• Requires an annual class ranking of certain high school students at the end of 11th and 12th grade (Sec. 1)

• Requires school boards, charter school operators, and governing bodies of private schools and tribal schools that operate high schools to complete the following, including (Sec. 4).

• Establish a method for ranking students on the basis of academic achievement, taking into account their grade point average, ACT score, course work, and other measures of academic achievement; and

• Use this ranking method, annually prepare a class ranking of students at the end of 11th grade and 12th grade.

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 6).
