Vote to pass a bill that increases worker protections that ride sharing companies like Uber and Lyft must require.

Highlights:

  • Establishes minimum compensation for Uber and Lyft drivers (Sec. 2):

    • At least $1.45 per mile and $0.34 per minute for all trips that start within the metro area;

    • At least $1.25 per mile and $0.34 per minute for all trips that start outside the metro area;

    • If a cancellation occurs after the driver has departed for the trip, then Uber or Lyft must provide 80% of the cancellation fee to the driver;

    • At least $1.25 per mile and $0.10 per minute fee if Uber or Lyft charge a fee for a long pickup; and

    • A minimum fee of $5.00 for any transportation of a rider by a driver.

  • Requires Uber or Lyft to pay the driver the fees or fares earned by the drive regardless whether the fee or fares wee actually collected by Uber or Lyft’s software (Sec. 2).

  • Requires Uber or Lyft to pay driver’s their compensation within a 14-day pay period (Sec. 2).

  • Requires the minimum compensation must be adjusted annually on July 1 to match the increase in the Consumer Price Index (Sec. 2).
