Vote to pass a bill that expands rights to collectively bargain to agricultural and domestic workers.

Highlights:

• Authorizes employee’s to decline to attend or participate in employer-sponsored religious or political meetings and prohibits employer retaliation measures (Sec. 1).

• Exempts employees from being required to participate or communicate their opinion on religious or political matters (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes employees to bring a civil action for wrongful termination if they believe themselves to be retaliated against for an refusal to attend a religious or political meeting or gathering (Sec. 1).

• Defines “political matters” for the purposes of this bill as the following, including (Sec. 1):

• Matters relating to political affiliation;

• Elections for political office;

• Political parties;

• Legislative proposals;

• Proposals to change rules or regulations; and

• The decision to join any political party or political, civic, community, fraternal, or labor organizations.

• Defines “religious matters” for the purposes of this bill as matters relating to religious affiliation and practice or the decision to join or support any religious or donominational organization or institution (Sec. 1).

• Expands rights to collectively bargain to agricultural and domestic workers and prohibits employer retaliation measures (Sec. 3).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect July 1, 2023 (Sec. 8).
