Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that increases construction speed of new affordable housing projects in the state of California.

Highlights:

• Authorizes a development proponent to submit an application for a multifamily housing development that is subject to a streamline approval process if the development satisfied planning standards (Sec. 1). 

• Authorizes the Department of General Services to act in the place of local government for streamlined approval of the project (Sec. 1).  

• Restructures objective planning standards to allow for multifamily dwellings (Sec. 1). 

• Defines “affordable rent” (Sec. 1).

• require all departments of the local government that are required to issue an approval of the development prior to the granting of an entitlement to also comply with the new streamlined approval requirements within specified time periods (Sec. 1).
