Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals to seek legal remedies for breaches of the Colorado Youth Employment Act.

Highlights:

• Specifies that individuals aggrieved by violations of the Colorado Youth Employment Opportunity Act of 1971 may pursue legal remedies if the following conditions are met (Sec. 1): 

• When an injury occurs to a minor during a week when the employer intentionally required the minor to work hours in violation of the allowed hours; 

• When an injury occurs to a minor while the minor was engaging in work prohibited by this act. 

• Specifies that economic damages for claims in tort that were recovered by a party aggrieved by a violation of this aft must be reduced by the amount of compensation and benefits that the minor or the minors dependents received for the same harm through workmen's compensation 

• Specifies taht this act takes effect on July 1st 2023 (Sec. 2). 

• Specifies how this act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety (Sec. 3).
