Title: Prohibits Discrimination Against Elected Officials in Insurance
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits discrimination against elected officials in insurance.
Prohibits a person responsible for transacting insurance from solely because of a person's status as an elected official from doing the following (Sec. 1):
Refusing to issue or renew insurance coverage;
Limiting the scope of insurance coverage;
Deny a covered claim;
Increase the premium, the policy flees, or any sort of cost of rate charged on an insurance policy.
Specifies that this does not apply to decisions based on sound underwriting or are authorized by law or regulations (Sec. 1).
Defines elected officials (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this act applies to all insurance policies and contracts issued or activated after the effective date of this act (Sec. 2).
