Increases criminal penalties for wage theft by employers from a misdemeanor to a felony offense in the state of Rhode Island if the wage due to an employee exceeds $1,500 (Sec. 1).
Specifies criminal punishment for the aforementioned felony violations as for first violation a 3 year prison term or $5,000 penalty fine, or both (Sec. 1).
