Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals injured by an impaired minor to sue the individual who supplied the minor drugs or alcohol.

Highlights:

• Requires that any person 18 years old or older who supplies alcohol or drugs to a minor and causes that minor impairment, be liable for death or injuries to people or property caused by the impairment of the minor (Sec. 5).

• Authorizes the surviving spouse and next of kin of any person injured by an impaired minor caused by the willful supply of alcohol or drugs by a person over the age of 18 the right of action in their own name for damages against the person who supplied or allowed the consumption of the controlled substances (Sec. 5).

• Specifies that an action for damages under this section is barred unless commenced within 2 years after the right of action arises (Sec. 5).
