Highlights:

  • Prohibits transportation or release of an individual offender to anywhere except their county of residence by the state Department of Corrections, unless under the following circumstances, including (Sec. 1):

    • The released offender has been ordered by the court to serve home detention, probation, or community corrections in a county other than their primary county of residence; or

    • The released offender has provided written proof that they have been accepted into a reentry program approved by the court, state agency, or local county or municipal agency; and

    • The released offender has employment and approved housing, not including homeless shelters.

  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 1).
