Vote to pass a bill that amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to include firearm industry members.

Highlights:

• Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act to include firearm industry members (Sec. 5).

• Defines “firearm industry member” as an individual, firm, corporation, company, partnership, society, joint stock, company, or any other entity or association engaged in the design, manufacture, distribution, importation, marketing, wholesale, or retail sale of firearm-related products, including sales by mail, telephone, internet, or in-person sales (Sec. 5).

• Prohibits firearm industry members from knowingly creating, maintainin,g or contributing to a condition in the state that endangers the safety or health or the public by participating in either unlawful or unreasonable conduct (Sec. 5).

• Prohibits firearm industry members from preventing the sale or distribution of a firearm-related product to a straw purchaser, or prohibited individual, or preventing the loss or theft of a firearm-related product from a firearm industry member (Sec. 5).

• Defines firearm-related product” as a firearm, firearm ammunition, a firearm precursor part, a firearm component, or a firearm accessory made or possessed in the state (Sec. 5).

• Defines “straw purchaser” as an individual who knowingly purchases or attempts to purchase a firearm-related product with intent to purchase a firearm-related product and deliver it to another individual prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a firearm-related product (Sec. 5).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval (Sec. 99).
