Title: Requires Safety Storage Training be Added to Future Firearm Training Courses
Vote to amend and pass a bill that requires safety storage training be added to future firearm training courses and repeals the state sales taxes on firearm safes and safety devices.
Requires the Department of Safety display on their website instructions on requesting free firearm locks (Sec. 1).
Requires the department collaborate with the Tennessee burear of investigation and other state agencies to create an appropriate public safety campaign dedicated to safe firearm storage (Sec. 1).
Exempts retail sales tax on firearm safes and firearm safety devices in the state of Tennessee (Sec. 5).
Defiens “firearm safe” as a locking container or other enclosure excluding glass-faced containers, equpped with a padlock, key lock, combination lock, or other locking device that is designed and intended for the secure storage of one or more firearms (Sec. 5).
Defines “firearm safety device” as a device installed on a firearm to prevent it from being operated without first deactivating the device, or a device equipped or installed on a firearm to prevent it from operation of it by anyone without authorized access (Sec. 5).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect November 1, 2023 (Sec. 6).
