Vote to pass a bill that repeals the death penalty for first degree murder sentences.

Highlights:

• Defines felony to mean a violation of a penal statute of this or any other state or the United States for which a sentence to a term of imprisonment for one year or more is provided or in which the death penalty may be imposed in another state (Sec. 10)

• Repeals all language referring to the death penalty for first degree murder (Sec. 20).

• Authorizes a defendant who at the time of commision of the offense was 18 or older and has been found guilty of first degree murder to be sentenced to a term of natural life imprisonment (Sec. 5-8-1).
