Vote to pass a bill that appropriates money relating to the Financial Administration of the Public Defense Services Commission.

Highlights:

• Appropriates funds to the Public Defense Services Commission for the following purposes (Sec. 1):

• Executive division;

• Compliance, audit, and performance division;

• Appellate division;

• Adult trial division;

• Juvenile trial division;

• Preauthorized expenses;

• Court mandated expenses;

• Parent child representation program;

• Administrative services division;

• Special programs, contracts and distributions division.

• Establishes the maximum limits for payment of expenses, excluding lottery and federal funds, collected by the Public Defense Services Commission for the following purposes (Sec. 2)

• Juvenile trial division;

• Preuthorized expenses;

• Court mandated expenses;

• Parent child representation program.

• Appropriates $3,000,000 to the Emergency Board out of the General Fund to be appropriated to the Public Defense Services Commission for Adult Trial Division or Juvenile Trial Division caseload costs (Sec. 3).

• Reduces the General Fund appropriation made to the Public Defense Services Commision for the biennium ending June 30, 2023 for nonroutine expenses by $413,560 (Sec. 4).

• Reduces the General Fund appropriation made to the Public Defense Services Commission for the biennium ending June 30, 2023 for court mandated expenses by $3,396,146 (Sec. 5).

• Establishes an emergency making this Act take effect July 1, 2023 for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety (Sec. 6).
