Title: Prohibits Gender Transition Procedures for Minors

Vote to override a governors veto and pass a bill that prohibits gender transition procedures for minors.

Highlights:

  • Specifies that medical professionals fround to have violated the provisions of this bill to have their licese revoked (Sec. 1).

  • Exempts medical emergencies and instances where treatment was started prior to August 1, 2023 from the aforementioned restrictions (Sec. 1). 

  • Authorizes minors, parents, or legal guardians who suffered an injury as a result of the provisons of this bill to bring a civil action with 25 years upon turning 18, or 4 years from the time of the injuries discovery for injuctive relief and other damages (Sec. 2).

  • Prohibits any state funds from going toward gender transition procedures (Sec. 3).

  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect between July 1, and August 1, 2023 upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 5).

NOTE: A THREE- FIFTHS MAJORITY OF THE ELECTED MEMBERS IS REQUIRED TO OVERRIDE A GOVERNOR'S VETO.
