Vote to pass a bill that extends paid family leave to members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Highlights:

• Extends employee paid family leave under the paid family leave state program to designated indidviuduals beginning July 1, 2024 (Sec. 1).

• Defines “designated individuals” as any individual who is related by blood or whose association with an employee is the equivalent of a family relationship (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes the employee to identify the designated individual when they file a claim for benefits (Sec. 2).

• Limits the maximum amount of family temporary disabiliy benefits paid within a 12-month period to 8 weeks (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 2).
