Title: Amends the Fish and Game Code to Protect Certain Species
Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that amends the Fish and Game Code to protect certain species.
Authorizes the Department of Fish and Wildlife to issue permits under California’s Endangered Species Act (CESA) that allows the incidental taking of a fully protected species if certain conditions are satisfied (Sec. 1).
Requires the department to develop a plan by July 1, 2024 to assess population status of each fully protected species and prepare a report to state legislative committees by July 1, 2025 (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the American peregrine falcon, brown pelican, and thicktail chub shall no longer be listed as fully protected species (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 7).
