Vote to pass a that amends statutes regarding ones ability to stand trial.

Highlights:

• Amends statutes regarding ones ability to stand trial to specify that at least 2 qualified psychiatrists or psychologists examine and report on the mental condition of the defendent (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes state prosecutors to request 2 year commitment periods for treatment for defendants who have a history of violence and are a danger to themselves or others and specifies that it shall expire 180 days after recieiving and completing treatment (Sec. 14).

• Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 15).
