Title: Prohibits Certain Individuals on Probation from Receiving a Concealed Carry Permit
Vote to concur with senate amendments and pass a bill that prohibits individuals from receiving a concealed carry permit if they are on probation for a crime punishable for more than a year imprisonment, been involuntarily committed to a treatment facility for more than 30 days, or has a history of violence against another person, and increases penalties for illegal gun ownership to up to 5 years in prison.
Establishes new penalties for the violation of an individual wearing, carrying, or transporting a handgun (Sec. 1).
Requires the State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy to report on certain information yearly to the Governor and to the General Assembly (Sec. 1).
Requires the Department of State Police to transmit a certain summary of laws regulating to certain persons in a certain manner (Sec. 1).
Requires the Secretary of State Police to help develop a certain curriculum in collaboration with the Office of the Attorney General and the Maryland Department of Health (Sec. 1).
