Vote to override the governors veto and pass a bill that amends membership makeup of both the county and state boards of elections.
Amends membership makeup of both the county and state boards of elections (Sec. ).
Specifies that the state Board of Elections shall consist of the the following 8 members, including (Sec. 1.2):
2 members appointed upon recommendation by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate;
2 members appointed upon recommendation by the Speaker of the House of Representatives;
2 members appointed upon recommendation by the minority leader of the Senate; and
2 members appointed upon recommendation by the minority leader of the House of Representatives.
Specifies that each county in the state shall have a county board of elections that consists of the following, 4 members, including (Sec. 2.1):
One member appointed upon recommendation by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate;
One member appointed upon recommendation by the Speaker of the House of Representatives;
One member appointed upon recommendation by the minority leader of the Senate; and
One member appointed upon recommendation by the minority leader of the House of Representatives.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately after passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 5.1).
NOTE: A THREE- FIFTHS MAJORITY OF THE ELECTED MEMBERS IS REQUIRED TO OVERRIDE A GOVERNOR'S VETO.
