Vote to pass a bill that prohibits investment with public funds for Environmental, Social, or Governance purposes.

Highlights:

• Establishes the Kansas Public Investments and Contracts Protection Act (Sec. 1). 

• Prohibits the state or a political subdivision from giving preferential treatment to companies based on Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria or discriminating against them based on said criteria (Sec. 1). 

• Requires fiduciary agents of the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System to act exclusively in the financial interest of participants and beneficiaries of the system (Sec. 1). 

• Prohibits state agencies from adopting environmental, social, and governance criteria for requiring businesses to work in accordance with such criteria (Sec. 1). 

• Requires investment advisors to provide an environment, social, and governance criteria notices to clients (Sec. 1). 

• Requires the legislative research department to develop and maintain an ESG disclosure web page (Sec. 1).
