Title: Appropriates Funding for State Judicial Spending and Requires Courts Obtain Consent of Non-Contract Attorneys
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funding for judicial budget spending and requires courts obtain the consent of a non-contract attorney before appointing them to represent an individual in court.
Appropriates the following amounts of funding for judicial budget spending, including, but not limited to (Div. I, Sec. 1):
$193.35 million for department of justice staff, judge, and supreme court justice salaries;
$3.6 million for jury and witness fees, mileage costs, interpreter costs, and attorney fees;
$3.29 million for school-based supervision costs for liaison officers; and
$12.25 million for juvenile justice delinquency prevention, sanctions, and services.
Authorizes the state supreme court to prescribe a formula to determine the number of distrct associate judges who will serve in each judicial election district (Div. II, Sec. 6).
Requires courts obtain the consent of non-contract attorney’s before appointing them to represent an individual in court (Div. IV, Sec. 9).
