Vote to pass a bill that amends the name the half-credit health class required for high school students statewide as "health and family education" and also require Missouri's education department to create a working group of educators, state employees and nonprofits to develop standards for the course.

Highlights:

• Amends and renames the half-credit health class required for high school students statewide as "health and family education" course starting in the 2024-2025 school year (Sec. A).

• Require Missouri's Department of Education to create a working group made up of educators, state employees and nonprofit organizations to develop standards for the aforementioned course (Sec. A).

• Specifies that the working group shall have an emphasis on behavioral health relating to the causes of morbidity and mortality of youth, chronic disease management, and parenting skills associated with optimal family health over a lifetime (Sec. A).

• Prohibits athletic associations, conferences, or any other organization with authority over varsity or intercollegiate athletics from preventing a student athlete from receiving compensation for their name and likenes under this bill (Sec. A).

• Specifies that this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. A).
