Title: Authorizes Schools to Offer Elective Courses on the Bible
Vote to pass a bill that will authorizes school districts and charter schools to offer elective courses on the Bible.
Authorizes all public and private school districts and charter schools to offer elective courses on the following subjects, including (Sec. A):
The Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament of the Bible;
The New Testament of the Bible; or
The Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament of the Bible.
Specifies that the aforementioned courses shall teach students knowledge of the biblical content, characters, poetry, and narratives that are prerequisites to understanding contemporary society and culture, including (Sec. A):
Literature;
Art;
Music;
Mores;
Oratory; and
Public policy.
Establishes that this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor (Sec. A).
