Title: Authorizes Second Chance Certification for Disqualified Truck Drivers
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes second chance certification for disqualified commercial truck drivers.
Authorizes individuals who have received lifetime bans from commercial driving privileges to reapply for reinstatement of commercial driving privileges on a case by case basis (Sec. 1).
Specifies that they must accomplish the following in order to do so
A completed rehabilitation program if they were found to be impaired while driving;
An approved driver improvement course;
Pay a restoration fee;
Meet all requirements under the law to hold a commercial driving licenses;
They shall not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor for ten years prior
They shall meet court set requirements for reinstatement;
At least ten years have passed since the initial termination of license.
Specifies that the following individuals are barred from being reinstated (Sec. 1):
Individuals who have committed a felony with their vehicle;
Those who have been charged with human trafficking.
Specifies that individuals looking to be reinstated have to submit an application over mail and include proof of the requirements stated above (Sec. 1).
Specifies that if a person commits a felony They shall receive a permanent lifetime disqualification from commercial driving (Sec. 1).
