Vote to pass a bill that requires utility companies remove abandoned copper wires and lines.

Highlights:

• Requires a utility company who has abandoned a powerline to remove said line from all points of attachments barring any federal law that prevents otherwise (Sec. 1).

• Requires utilities to mark on both ends of a powerline that they are the owners and proprietors of said line (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that entities that own telephone polls who do not own telephone lines may send a request to have said lines removed (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that owners of telephone polls may also require a security deposit that will be refunded when the line is removed  (Sec. 1). 

• Requires the Board of public utilities and the Department of Community Affairs to set the rules and regulations concerning the removal of these lines (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that this act goes into effect immediately (Sec. 1).
