Vote to pass a bill that establishes a loan redemption program for primary care physicians.

Highlights:

• Expands eligibility for the loan redemption program to psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that The loan redemption program shall only contract with individuals who serve in a field designated by the commissioner of health (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the contract must contain the following requirements for eligibility (Sec. 1):

• Service for at least two years in a full time clinical profession; and  

• Other provisions that the Department of Health may requires 

• Specifies that no less than 40% of the fund shall be reserved for program participants (Sec. 1).
