Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that prohibits gender affirming care for minors.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits any state funding from being expended to any government entity, public postsecondary educational institution, or state group health insurance program for any minor’s sex-reassignment prescription or procedure (Sec. 3).

  • Defines “sex-reassignment prescriptions or procedures” as the following, including, but not limited to (Sec. ):

    • Puberty-blockers;

    • Hormones or hormone antagonists; or

    • Any medical or surgical procedure.

  • Exempts individuals with medically verifiable genetic disorders of sexual development (Sec. 4).

  • Exempts individuals 18 and older and physicians who had begun gender affirming care before the enactment date of this bill (Sec. 4).

  • Authorizes individuals 18 and under to seek injunctive relief for damages from personal injury or death resulting from provisions of sex-reassignment prescriptions or procedures within 20 years of the treatment occurring (Sec. 7).

  • Specifies that this bill shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by the governor  (Sec. 10).
