Title: Establishes New Procedures for Automatic Recounts
Vote to pass a bill that establishes new state procedures for automatic recounts.
Specifies that the act only applies to the following situations (Sec. 1).
A race in which one candidate is beaten by by one-half of one percent or less of the votes cast for that office;
A tie vote;
A ballot measure that is approved or defeated by one-half of one percent or less of the votes cast on that measure.
Establishes a procedure for automatic recounts that involves generally accepted sampling techniques to survey the following (Sec. 2).
100% of electronic ballots;
5% of early voting ballots voted by mail;
5% of the ballots from polling place locations established for early voting;
5% of the ballots from placed designated as polling locations for election day.
Specifies that the secretary of state must adopt rules and procedures for the implementation of this section (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this goes into effect on September 1st 2023 (Sec. 3).
