Title: Establishes New Reporting Requirements for County Election Administrators

Vote to pass a bill that establishes new reporting requirements on county election administrators subject to penalties.

Highlights:

  • Establishes that the county election administrator is a nonvoting member of the county election commission and board (Sec. 3). 

  • Requires the county election administrator to produce a report to the commission that provides them with information regarding number of applications to vote by mail, number of applications rejected, the number of official ballots, the number of votes by mail submitted per applicant, and other information (Sec. 4). 

  • Requires the county election administrator to produce a report to the commission no later than 30 days after the final canvass of election results concerning number of limited ballots cast, number of total voters, number of votes cast per polling location, number of spoiled ballots, number of provisional ballots, and other information (Sec. 4). 

  • Requires the county election administrator to produce a report to the commission no later than 30 days after the final canvass of election results concerning the number of spoiled ballots, marked ballots, the allocation of voting systems and equipment, the number of duplicated ballots by the central counting system, and other information (Sec. 4). 

  • Requires the county election administrator to produce a report to the commission no later than 30 days after the final canvass of election results concerning the number of suspense voters, the number of statements of residence completed at the polling location, and an inventory of election records (Sec. 4). 

  • Requires the county election commission to monitor the election administrator to ensure they are implementing their recommendations set out in previous reports (Sec. 4). 

  • Specifies that if a building refuses to make a polling place available and open in accordance with regulations then it may not be considered for being a polling place in future elections (Sec. 5). 

  • Specifies that the presiding election judge shall note the amount of provisional ballots cast and deliver the number to those applicable (Sec. 5). 

  • Specifies that the secretary of state may supervise the activities of the above to ensure a completed vote count (Sec. 5).
