Title: Authorizes Cross-Age Tutoring for Students in Lower Grades
Vote to pass a bill to authorizes cross-age tutoring for students in lower grades.
Requires the Department of Education establish and publish guidelines for the state Cross-age Tutoring Program in which students in grades 11 and 12 may volunteer as a totutor to assist other students with their studies (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the aforementioned guidelines shall provide the following, including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):
The qualifications of students eligible to serve as tutors;
That participating tutors shall receive academic credit as payment of service;
Coordination with the certified teacher; and
Structure for tutoring sessions for both content and delivery.
Defines “cross-age tutoring” as tutoring that a student in an upper grade level provides to a student in a lower grade level (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this bill shall take effect 90 days after passage and approval by the governor (Sec. 2).
