Title: Establishes New Rules Concerning Diversity Training, Classroom Bias, and Faculty Strikes
Vote to pass a bill that establishes new academic rules and restrictions regarding classroom bias, mandatory diversity training, and faculty strikes.
Establishes an annual meeting for chancellors to deliver educational programs to the board of trustees for public higher education institutions (Sec. 3333.045).
Requires each state institution of higher education implement the following into their mission statement (Sec. 3345.0216):
The institution declares it will educate students by means of free, open, and rigorous intellectual inquiry to seek truth; and
The institution has a duty to equip students with the opportunity to develop intellectual skills they need to reach their own informed conclusions; and
The institution declares that its duty is to ensure that it does not prohibit speech or lawful assembly; and
The institution declares it is committed to create a community dedicated to free and civil inquiry; and
The institution declares that it has a duty to treat all faculty, staff, and students as individuals and treat them equally.
Prohibits state higher education institutions from delivering any mandatory programs regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion (Sec. 3345.0217).
Requires professor evaluations include questions about the professor creation of a bias free environment (Sec. 3345.451).
Prohibits public employees from participating in strikes (Sec. 4117.14).
