Title: Amends Various State Election Laws
Vote to concur with house amendments and pass a bill that amends various state election laws including allowing 16 year olds to preregister to vote.
Establishes a legislative task force to study the feasibility of adopting a ranked-choice voting system in the state of Illinois and publish a final report by March 1, 2024 (Sec. 5).
Amends previous law to authorize 16-year olds who are otherwise qualified to vote to preregister to vote, but specifies their registration shall be held in abeyance until they turn 18 (Sec. 5).
Authorizes 17-year olds who will turn 18 before election day to circulate nominating petitions or petitions proposing a ballot question (Sec. 5).
Specifies that this bill shall take effect January 1, 2024 (Sec. 99).
