Vote to pass a bill that amends state gun control measures to prohibit domestic violence offenders from purchasing firearms, open carry, bulk purchases on handguns and large capacity magazines, and expands safe storage laws, and permit training requirements.

Highlights:

• Prohibits open carry of firearms in public spaces (Sec. 1).

• Requires a permit for concealed carry in public spaces (Sec. 1).

• Requires each firearm manufactured receives a unique serial number from the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (Sec. 2).

• Requires a permit for the sale and purchase of firearms for all firms, individuals, and corporations (Sec. 3).

• Prohibits individuals under the age of 21 from purchasing firearms with a magazine over 5 rounds (Sec. 11).

• Specifies that storing a firearm in a place where a minor or individual prohibited from operating a firearm has access is in violation of the bill (Sec. 12).

• Establishes criminally negligent storage of a firearm as a class D felony (Sec. 22).

• Prohibits the sale of ammunition to individuals under 18 years of age (Sec. 14).

• Establishes possession of an assault weapon as a class D felony (Sec. 26):

• Requires a course on firearm safety and use to be completed to receive a pistol permit (Sec. 33).

• Requires all firearms to be sold with a trigger lock (Sec. 36).

• Specifies that all long guns must be transported unloaded (Sec. 37).

• Requires a pistol permit to buy body armor (Sec. 38).
