Title: Amends Various Provisions of State Public Assistance Programs

Vote to pass a bill that amends various provisions relating to state public assistance programs.

Highlights:

  • Amends various funding provisions relating to temporary assistance for needy families (TANF) and the supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) eligibility requirements offered under state public assistance programs (Sec. 1).

  • Specifies that transitional benefits offered to an individual shall gradually step down as  proportionate to their increase in income adjusted for state cost of living (Sec. A).

  • Authorizes SNAP and TANF eligibility be restored for those convicted of drug-related felonies so long as they meet certain criteria including, but not limited to (Sec. ):

    • Acceptance and completion of a substance abuse treatment or evaluation;

    • Meeting various work requirement; and

    • Demonstrating sobriety through voluntary urinalysis testing paid for by the participant.

  • Requires any individual found guilty of unlawful transfer of public funds to in addition to criminal penalty pay restitution to the state of Missouri for the total amount transferred, and prohibits probation release until full restitution is paid (Sec. 3).
