Title: Requires States Electoral College Delegates go to the Winner of the Popular Vote

Vote to pass a bill that requires the state electoral college delegates go to the winner of the popular vote count.

Highlights:

  • Requires that for each political party or unaffiliated candidate shall submit to the Secretary of State and State Election Commissioner the names of two individuals with one of the individuals being “elector nominee” and the other “alternate elector nominee” (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires the electors to execute a pledge to uphold their duties if selected (Sec. 1).

  • Requires the state’s governor to certify the electors and to state that these are the electors chosen unless there emerges a vacancy (Sec. 1). 

  • Defines the process by which alternate electors may be chosen (Sec. 1). 

  • Specifies that alternate electors must take the same pledge as electors initially chosen (Sec. 1).

  • Requires the above process to continue until all the electoral votes for the state are cast (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires the Secretary of State to present an amended certificate of ascertainment if the list differs from the list originally included and seen by the governor (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires the Governor to sign off on the amended certificate and deliver the signed certificate to all individuals who are entitled to receive the certificate (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires the Secretary of State to prepare a certificate of election (Sec. 1).
